The real estate sector in the sustainable development of territories

"According to the "2021 Global status report for buildings and construction" compiled by the UN, collectively the buildings and construction sector is responsible for 36 percent of energy consumption and 37 percent of climate-changing gas emissions. 
 
The real estate sector, through the growth of ESG-compliant investments, the rise of socially responsible financial instruments, and the spread of the 3Rs principle of ""Reduce, Reuse and Recycle,"" is actively contributing to sustainable development, including from an environmental perspective. 
 
Investors are focusing their attention on the future of the vast stock of obsolete real estate, not only for ethical reasons, but also because of the lower riskiness of redevelopment compared to new construction: lower credit exposure, shorter time horizon, the presence of an area already equipped with infrastructure, the resulting lower urbanization charges and in general the "location" effect, represent some of the elements in favor of initiatives to rehabilitate existing assets.
