Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier celebrated its official opening on April 8, 2025, marking a landmark achievement in contemporary urban development and integrated design.
Strategically located within Hamburg’s HafenCity, this transformative mixed-use district brings together premier retail destinations, Grade A office space, high-end hospitality, modern residential units, and a world-class cruise terminal, establishing a dynamic and future, facing urban ecosystem.
RINA Prime Value Services was appointed as the technical experts in November 2023, assuming responsibility for the supervision of all testing and commissioning of all MEP systems, as well as the coordination of extensive on-site operations involving over 100+contractors and an average of more than 800 personnel. Through decisive leadership, agile management, and a commitment to excellence, the team successfully mitigated delays and ensured the seamless integration of complex systems in line with international best practices.
Project scope and highlights:
- 200 retail units, 6 cinema halls, 830 hotel rooms, and 620 residential apartments
- 3 office towers accommodating over 4,000 workstations
- A cruise terminal designed to host more than 100 annual dockings
- All buildings targeting BREEAM Excellent certification
Following 18 months of intensive execution, RINA Prime’s contribution to the successful delivery of Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier stands as a clear demonstration of technical expertise, operational rigour, and collaborative achievement.
This outcome was driven by a multidisciplinary team of over 50 highly qualified international engineers, guided with strategic vision by Dr. Ing. Luciano Capaldo and supported by the outstanding project management of Bogdan Badila. Their leadership was instrumental in navigating the scale and complexity of this iconic development.
